Thank you! The Aray getting all better is kind of sudden. I had originally written a prolonged recovery period full of Aray struggling with physical challenges and angsty hatred towards well, pretty much every body, and then Maeye healing her weeks or so later, but it was just getting too dark. So instead, we have an instantaneous magical happy ending! π
That Maeye is certainly surrounded by “situations!” So nice to have Aray back strong and fierce. If only Endora could have restored her beautiful long hair. π Right now Aray and Fiet look very similar. Is that intentional?
No, that was not intentional, just a happy accident. π Aray will definitely grow her hair out again and we will get to watch her experiment with lots of fun hairsyles along the way.
Yes, thank you little blue lady!
I too miss Aray’s gorgeous locks, but she’s not hard on the eyes this way either. π
Interestingly, it seems like even Maeye may end up being a summoner…
Anyway, another great page. Small suggestion – it took me a few reads (not that I mind, but it could be clearer, is all) to get the idea that some time passes in conversation with Dalleon & Kraghen between panels 8 & 9.
To make things like read better in future, you could maybe make the border between those sections thicker, to simulate more time passing than between the rest of the panels. Just something to consider.
I think Scott McCloud has more sophisticated ideas in “Understanding Comics“, but it has been a long time since I read it…
I think Aray looks hot as hell in those last couple of panels.
And you are absolutely right about the time delay. I think I could have addressed it with a simple “A few minutes later…” kind of thing at the top. Usually I try to handle time passing through lighting changes, but not possible in this setting.
Thank you very much for the book suggestion. I just ordered it from Amazon!
To answer Aray’s question, showing up looking like that will get her every drink in the house.
Understanding Comics is a great book. And if you’ve never read Zot!, it’s very much worth tracking down. The later black-and-white issues are collected in a book. The earlier color issues are kind of scattered.
Thought it might have been how her face appears in panel three (pale stripe under both eyes with a vertical line under each eye) or what appeared to be a scar at the bridge of her nose, but that’s still there after Endora healed her
Oh, now that you have pointed it out, that vertical line is the edge (end) of the plaster (thought the pale strip extended the full width of her eye)
She still has the line though (it was there before the headbutt)
Yea, I actually did one of the things that I hate that you see often in tv/movie magic. Magic healing causing the bandage to disappear. If only there was more time/room I would have shown Bekha removing her bandage. I think that is the hardest part of making a comic – deciding what to show and can be skipped.
But yea, always hated that in movies and tv. Why would a healing spell magic a bandage go away? Why would regeneration cause the blood to come out of someone’s clothes? Just silly stuff. But hey, it’s magic, right? π
Hm. A bit late now, but maybe Endora could’ve “telekinetically” removed the bandage, either afterward to show her work, or before for easier access? The easiest way to show that would be to have the bandage twirling away into the air in the inset panel.
Yea…the “g” on the end of Sha’ag steals some of the femininity. But luckily, Maeye, like me, never actually uses a persons full name. She’ll end up calling her Sha or Shasta or something like that. π
Hmm, seeing Aray laid out like that, where is Maeye and Fiet? o_O
And, is Maeye a ‘Player’? She’s had Fiet, almost had Bekha (and don’t think we haven’t noticed Maeye’s hand in panel five π ) and just about to add Sha’ to the harem group
Maeye is a free spirit. She did exchange some pretty powerful kisses with Fiet, but they have slept together (yet). Her hand in panel 5 (one of my favorites on the page) is patty Behka in an “it’s ok, honey” sort of way in response to Bekha’s reaction to the blatant magic use in her home.
This is the problem with mixing a love story and a sexy story. Part of me wants to have everyone sleeping with everyone, but that does not make for a particularly realistic or meaningful love story. So, will Maeye overcome her free spirited ways and fall completely for Aray, or will she follow her um…instincts?…and get seduced by some of the other beautiful and magical women around her? We shall see…
β¦Is there supposed to be an extra “not” in that comment, Feori? Oh my heart XD
Hmmmmβ¦ On the one hand, dream sequences are a way around that dilemmaβ¦ on the other hand, if the readers don’t know it’s a dream sequence, that itself can cause issues. Would making a dreamlike(RealDreamsAreWeirder) dream sequence be easier or harder than a “physical world” sequence?
Was just teasing, nothing wrong with Maeye ‘checking the aisles’ (she’s still new to this, isn’t she? being ‘liberated’ and finding girls attractive?) when heading for what she came into the store for π
Yay! Aray is well again!
Another gorgeous strip.

I have a feeling the emotional wounds will take longer to heal. “Yay magic!” can only do so much.
But all this was a couple years ago, now. So I’m going to find out if I was right soon enough.
Yes, many of these scars will never heal.

Endora being the mother of Samantha from ‘Bewitched’ and a nasty harridan in her own right….is this meant to cancel her out ? π
Oh wow! I missed that reference. I knew the name sounded familiar. I should probably google this stuff after I make it up.
Yes, thank you little blue lady!

Thank you. I have not read that. I will check it out!
So, we have Punk Aray for awhile? She’s cute (of course), and looking forward to her trying out different hairstyles π
Me too. I think this is going to be fun.
Okay, what was wrong with Bekha’s face? Kinda looks like there is something under or around her eyes in panel three
Okay, looking back at her previous appearances, she means after Sha’ag headbutted?
Yup – you got it. She got her nose busted by bitey-girl’s headbutt.
Thought it might have been how her face appears in panel three (pale stripe under both eyes with a vertical line under each eye) or what appeared to be a scar at the bridge of her nose, but that’s still there after Endora healed her
That pale strip is supposed to be a bandage. Looks better up close. π

Cool! It sounds like Maeye will soon have a companion of her own to summon. She’ll fit right in with Arayanna and Kraghan.
Thing is, I never liked the name Sha’ag. It’s not very feminine. Also, it reminds me of shag carpets. And hags.
Yea…the “g” on the end of Sha’ag steals some of the femininity. But luckily, Maeye, like me, never actually uses a persons full name. She’ll end up calling her Sha or Shasta or something like that. π
Was making me thinking of Hawkgirl, from “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”
How so? Not getting that reference, but always wanting to learn… π
Hawkgirl’s original name was Shiara (or something similar, haven’t seen it written down, just heard)
Just thought of something: is it safe for Sha’ to go off alone? o_O
Most likely not. π
Please don’t hurt or kill her π
Hmm, seeing Aray laid out like that, where is Maeye and Fiet? o_O
And, is Maeye a ‘Player’? She’s had Fiet, almost had Bekha (and don’t think we haven’t noticed Maeye’s hand in panel five π ) and just about to add Sha’ to the
haremgroupWho do you think is taking the picture? π

Very soon, actually.
