Bk1: Ch10: Pg08
Raker: What's this all about? First you put my neck on the chopping block and now you are rescuing me?
Arayanna: I did what I needed to in order to save the woman I love. I am sure you can appreciate that.
Arayanna: Now I am doing what I need to do in order to save innocent people from an unjust execution.
1b.
Raker: I think I can understand that.
Raker: Regardless, you have my thanks.
Mercy: What do we do now?
2a.
Arayanna: You get out of this city and start fresh somewhere else.
Mercy: But how? They took everything. Our money. Our bakery. Everything.
2b.
Maeye: Wait...your name is Raker the Baker?
Arayanna: Here. This should be enough to get you started elsewhere.
Arayanna: We have friends at the Red Barrel Inn in Bentl. They will take you in and help you get on your feet. It is a long way to travel, but it
is an option.
3a.
Mercy: Thank you. Thank you so much!
Arayanna: You are welcome.
Maeye: We're just going to let this one go? Raker the Baker? Really?
3b.
Arayanna: Now, I think we should all get out of here. We have clothes and horses for you just around the corner.
4a.
Maeye: This is for you. We have a horse and stuff for you too so you can safely get out of town.
Seydah: You will be leaving as well?
4b.
Maeye: Not right away. We still have important business here.
Seydah: Then I will stay. You two have saved my life twice now. I will be with you until I have repaid that debt.
Maeye: I kind of thought you would say that. There is a room for you at the inn where we are staying if you like.
Seydah: Thank you.
6a.
Seydah: Be on your gaurd. Something approaches.
Mercy: No need to worry.
6b.
Seydah: You are not afraid?
Maeye: No. She is a friend of ours.
Seydah: You are friends with the gods?
Maeye: Not quite.
8a.
Fiet: Well that was fun! I've never imitated a Goddess before.
Arayanna: You did great.
Fiet: Thank you. Everything went well?
Arayanna: Yes.
Fiet: That is good. I am always happy to help.
8b.
Fiet: Hello. I am Fiet.
Seydah: Greetings.
Seydah: You have very interesting friends, Maeye.
Maeye: You don't know the half of it.
Raker the Baker is a proficient bread maker.
LOL!!
I tried really hard to make it into a limerick of some kind, but my brain refused to cooperate. Figured a concise one-liner was enough.
haven’t commented a while… but this page is beautiful… I really like the setting and execution is excellent… good job, Feori!
Thank you. It is always difficult to render dark/nighttime settings. It takes the rendering engine forever and it is tough to find that balance between making it look dark and providing enough light so that you can see what is happening.
The two last sentences both ring very true. Very interesting friends, to say nothing of the even more interesting friends.
Yes! I used to run tabletop RPGs for many years. We started with D&D of course, but eventually landed on a gaming system called GURPS. In GURPS, there is a disadvantage called Weirdness Magnet which basically means weird things and weird people are attracted to your character. Maeye has Weirdness Magnet at the highest level. 😀
I wonder what the penalty for impersonating a deity is ?
Excommunication ?
Forcible conversion ?
Fifteen hail epscas and a good flogging?
Three rounds of naked ‘pass the collection plate’ ?
Depends on the deity
Oh, you meant punishment from the clergy? They don’t count, they never did, which is why they are so pissy about minor shit like that (specially when they themselves don’t believe in the Gods)
We have not spent much time exploring the Prentil clergy in our comic. The religions are very loosely organized and clergy are not as common as you might find in other fantasy settings. The are most coming in the cities of Vridhan and Slogat, and we have not visited those places yet.
LOL!!
I noticed Trarg did not stay with them ?? is he about to snitch on them he seams a bit ungrateful
I don’t think so. Having failed his Lord, he was on his way to the gallows along with Raker, Mercy and Seydah. I think Trarg will slip quietly into oblivion.
It’s not until you see them riding next to ‘normal’ horses that you remember just how big those beasties are
Kinda like riding a Clydesdale next to an Arabian 😀
Yes. Whitiere (Maeye’s horse) being a Porran is huge! Aray’s horse is not a Porran, just a big black draft horse.
Maeye’s hair looks good like this
I will remember that. 🙂
