In case anyone was wondering, the Croa-Tellis did not explode when the Pillar piece was removed like the rock monster did. The Croa-Tellis was a living organism when the Pillar half first embedded itself and therefore it was not a completely unnatural being. The giant boulder that became the rock monster when it was injected with the Pillar half was not a living thing, and therefore could no longer be a living thing once the Pillar was removed.
The Croa-Tellis will live a long and fruitful (get it…fruit…its a plant…) life. It will likely lose it’s lust for lovely young ladies over a few years, but it should carry on after. Li’Lana’s Pleasure Tower will remain one of the most popular in Foyyt for many years to come. Many will continue to boast of the effects of the famed aura of lust surrounding the Tower, but in truth it faded completely the night Arayanna and Maeye released the Pillar.
I read it as his equivalent of someone who always carries a smartphone in hand. It could be hollow… or he could’ve just gotten enough of a workout from carrying it.
In the Middle Ages lenses were hard to make. The technology for making glass properly simply wasn’t there. Glass blowing, on the other hand, is pretty simple (though still not cheap), and you can make a reasonably accurate sphere with some practice. Blow a glass sphere, fill it with water, and you have a passable magnifying glass. Really useful for reading hand-written text, especially if it was super fine (they’d often use single cat whiskers for brushes; actually gave a few to a friend who does illuminated manuscripts), or if the light wasn’t good.
Since he was sitting at a book at the time, it makes sense that he’d have such a device. Then he got interrupted, and didn’t have anywhere to put it. Even blown glass wasn’t exactly cheap, and water plus hand-written books equals a bad day! And when he sits at the book again you can see him holding it over the book, as if in preparation to use it again. Just like an Italian scholar would have back in the 1300s.
As for why it’d be black, I’m going with, he can see in wavelengths that we can’t. He’s someone who deals with bureaucrats to get approval for time travel, has horns growing out of his head, and is apparently immune to the ladies’ charm. We’re not dealing with an ordinary being.
Remember, the light in the mideaval eras was far from the bright lights we have these days. The light measuring unit “Candela” got its name for a reason 🙂 .
Anyway, candle and torch lights are constantly flickering, have a dominant spectrum in yellow and red, use up oxygen and produce fumes. So you’ll need a magnifier if you have fine writings to separate “fly shit” from written dots.

I’m sure Maeaye doesn’t share the same point of view about the “embarrasing position” they were rescued from.

As of Maeayes’s extented life … as long as she channels mana, her body will age very slow. But didn’t he say the planet they head to has almost no mana left, means almost nothing she can channel.
Also, if they really travel to Earth – Earth humans have a very bad tendency when it comes to magic, aka witchcraft …
They will be traveling to Earth in the near future – an Earth that has been decimated by a demon invasion. Aray and Maeye plan to not run into other humans, which is not difficult in this ugly future.
You are right though, Maeye will age normally for the time that they are on Earth. But that should not be long…unless something goes terribly wrong with their plan. 🙂
All in how it is said, so he is saying Maeye will live as long as Arayanna, but he did not say how long Arayanna will live. If Maeye decides to use up some of her Manna to save Arayanna, they can live together but her life will be shortened the more she uses it. if I am understanding that.
Potentially, I think? I interpret the explanation to mean that Maeye can basically “heal” the effects of aging on herself as she ages. As long as she doesn’t permanently deplete her reserves, she would likely live forever. Running out of mana reserves would not necessarily make her get old instantly, just that she would start to age normally.
Arayanna’s people can generally live to be 200-300 years old. The way i see things playing out, Maeye will subconsciously age herself at approximately the same rate as Aray, so they can grow old together. That is, of course, provided they do not run into some tragedy. The story grows as it goes, so who knows what will happen.
Did they at least ask Korin if she wanted sight?
Doesn’t her lack of sight give her some sort of special ability? Or was that ability something she would have anyway?
She may, or she may not, want her sight back but anyhow it isn’t bad to be able to see again.
When you lose a sense, another will get better and more focus (blind/touch, deaf/see,…).
I don’t think she’ll lose her special ability when she gets her sight back. Once you have the ability, you’ll keep it.
You know… I’m beginning to wonder if all these years the whole point of Prentil is so Feori can play dress-up dolls with Aray and Maeye, and the whole plot is incidental to justify the time spent on character designs. XD
I’m here for it, whatever the case might be. Really appreciate the new looks for the girls.
By ‘new looks for the girls’, do you mean their outfits? Personally hate the stories where the characters never changed their look or outfits (or even their ages… )
If you meant the girls themselves, Feori hired a new actress for the Maeye role a couple years ago (maybe just before they got the matching tats?)
I try very hard to give the ladies fresh looks. I agree with Guesticus – I hate characters that wear the exact same outfit every single time you see them. But I will admit I spend far too much time (and money) getting these girls dressed each page. 😀
The “standard” way to avert LimitedWardrobe is to have a few items in an actual wardrobe for them, and mix up recolors and combos. Frex 3 tops and 3 bottoms, tintable, can stand in for a full wardrobe 🙂

Ooooo So close. Last sentence, last panel. “What you do with that live is yet to be seen.” Should be life.
Wouldn’t be a Prentil page if Feori didn’t have at least one typo in it!
Was about to point that out as well
As you said, it’s how we can tell it’s an authentic Prentil page 😀
LOL. OMG.
Another one so close. In the 13th panel ‘youselves’ should be ‘yourselves’.
I also wonder why the merchant always carries a (glass ?) bal in his left hand. Wouldn’t that strain his arm after a while ?
I read it as his equivalent of someone who always carries a smartphone in hand. It could be hollow… or he could’ve just gotten enough of a workout from carrying it.

Only the idiot hyu-mons
And Aray said she knows of a safe place, hopefully she will spend that time teaching Maeye not to use magicks

Maeye’s outfit reminds me of Leeloo’s! 🙂
I’m curious what Earth will look like when they get there. Will Aray’s knowledge be accurate?
Well, when Aray was last there, it looked like contemporary Times (maybe some when between the 1980’s and 1930’s)
Meant 2030’s 🙁
The year will be 2029. Earth looks like it has got it’s ass kicked.
Was close 🙂

However, it sounds like she won’t want to stay on a low mana planet. So hopefully they can get in and out of Earth quickly.

Hmm, Maeye tied the bra-strap on over her dress, almost as an afterthought (specially seeing how it doesn’t match)

Depends on if that ability is dependant on her not being able to see…
