Maeye: Ooo! The laptop! Time for some LOTRO? Or maybe some of that juicy porn stuff?
Arayanna: No. Unfortunately.
Arayanna: Today, we are working.
1b.
Maeye: Ok. What's up?
Arayanna: We are going to learn about our enemy.
2a.
Arayanna: We call this one The Crusher. They are massively strong and surprisingly quick. Best to keep your distance from these guys.
2b.
Arayanna: Archdemon. This guy can use magic to create a number of effects, including fireballs, acid jets, and walls of fog.
But his favorite trick is to paralyze you and then rape you. Man or woman. It doesn't matter.
And after they rape you they rip you apart. From the inside out.
3a.
Arayanna: Succubus. These lovely ladies always travel in packs and attack with vicious claws, razor sharp teeth, and barbed tails dripping
with poison. But what makes them so dangerous is their natural pheromones. They emit a chemical that, well, it makes you incredibly
horny at the most inappropriate times. Succubi fighting together with Archdemons make for some confusing and disgusting battles.
3b.
Maeye: Wait. Is Sha'ag one of these Succubuseses?
Arayanna: By the Maker...I've never thought of that. I suppose she could be, or somehow related.
4a.
Arayanna: She has the pheromones and the ears...
Maeye: But no tail! At least not that I have seen.
Arayanna: And no wings.
Maeye: But little baby Vanth has horns!
4b.
Arayanna: We will have to ask her more about where she comes from.
Arayanna: Ok. Next up.
5a.
Arayanna: These are the Riggorot. Not the greatest of fighters, but they are the reason the Horde can travel from world to world, so they
are seldom alone and generally well protected. If you see one, you kill it.
Maeye: Understood.
5b.
Arayanna: Mind Flayer. Incredibly dangerous. They can get into you head and make you do all kinds of terrible things. Absolutely stay
away from these at all cost.
6a.
Arayanna: Ghoul. These evil little creatures are not particularly difficult to kill, but they will not stop coming after your
until they are completely destroyed. You can cut them into pieces and the pieces will still try to kill you. Fire is the best weapon
against them.
6b.
Arayanna: Tentaclis. Silent infiltrators. Small, quick and quiet. Their tentacles emit a numbing agent so they can feed on you in your
sleep and you would never know.
7a.
Maeye: What the hell, Aray? What are we getting in to?
Arayanna: I know it's frightening, but each of these creatures has their own strengths and their own weaknesses. We can do this.
We just have to be prepared.
7b.
Maeye: Ok. I trust you.
Arayanna: Good. There are more varieties of creatures out there, but these are the ones we are most likely to encounter. Study them well.
Maeye: I will.
8a.
Arayanna: We have to be prepared both mentally and physically. Let's get in some hand-to-hand training and then some shooting practice.
Maeye: Ok. But we should do it the other way around.
Arayanna: Why's that?
8b.
Maeye: Because whenever we get to wrestling we end up having sex.
Arayanna: Good point.

I don’t know. I think Maeye’s initial assessment sounds right. Aray says the creatures each have both strengths and weaknesses, but I didn’t see her outlining any weaknesses for the first three.
Yea – there isn’t enough room on the page to describe everything about the enemy – that’s why Aray says there is more study to be done. 🙂 It should be a hell of fight though…
So, the Riggorot are the gate makers?
Makes sense to prioritize those, same as healers should be priority targets
Yes. They are the culprits behind all this world jumping.
Know your enemy.
Absolutely!
Don’t forget the best of both…bayonets !!!
“Remember, Maeye, if your bayonet sticks in the enemy fire a round to dislodge it”
“If I have any rounds left there isn’t going to be any !@#$%^ bayonet fighting !!!”
If I’m indoors or within two strides of an enemy (4 if his weapon is holstered/ slung). I’m quicker, quieter, and more precise with the bayonet. Why waste the rounds?
That’s a little scary. lol
There will be some knife fighting training for sure. 😀
She should be familiar with spears, a modern style rifle with a bayonet just trades being able to shuffle it through your hands quickly to adjust distance for more points of leverage to increase damage…and contrary to what ‘bama claimed during a debate, there are many more bayonets in use today than there were in WW1, but never let the facts get in the way of a good false comparison.
Fighting with a bayonet should be taught with either real rifles or properly weighted dummy rifles. Spears are a different animal altogether. First, the reach with a spear is greater (standard lengths range from 6’ to 16’). Second, the most accurate thrust with a spear is one I call a pool cue shot: weak hand leads and aims, strong hand thrusts through. Can’t pull that off with a bayonet on a rifle. Still, spear, cudgel, great sword, broad sword, rapier, dagger, karambit, bolo, and bo training are all worthwhile. All teach awareness of reach and proper power delivery—all provide lessons that transfer, but never think that being an expert with one makes you an expert with all.
God, I miss it.
I take it you were a weapons instructor at some point?
Yes and no, Feori. I’m just a martial arts junkie. Black belts in Kendo and Aikido, Sabre fencer in high school. Knight of the Society for Creative Anachronism. I also tried my hand at Capoeira and Krav Maga for a while—screwed up my foot in the former and my spine in the latter. Now my spine is more steel than bone, but I’m still dangerous with a cane.
A spear is definitely different than a bayonet. The balance, reach and overall handling aren’t the same at all but the underlying purpose is the same ‘put the pointy end in the enemy’s soft parts’. A spear is longer, a little more nimble and easier to control the point, while you can deliver a much more effective butt stroke with a rifle that has more mass behind the thrust and a few places to grab and add a little more oomph without having it slide back through your hands.
Everything is a tradeoff, but they’re apparently going to be using rifles and a bayonet takes up much less space and weight as a backup than even a collapsible spear. I’d advise practicing with what you’re going to be using, not what’s necessarily the best tool for the job.
That and in close confines the shorter the weapon the better, which is why trench raiding parties in WW1 most often ditched their rifles with the two-foot long bayonets in favour of clubs, knives and entrenching tools; and grenades, grenades really came to the forefront then since there are a lot of blind corners in trenches.
Will there be a test? O.o
It wouldn’t be a bad idea!
I mean, a test for US… it’s a lot to remember! Perhaps when these baddies show up, you could provide a link to this page to help us remember. 🙂
This could be a lot of fun. 🙂 What would be a good prize?
A congratulations panel from our heroines?
