Me too, love the lower half almost as much as upper. No hair, mmmm.
Btw, is that a tattoo down there or hair growing in shape of a vine? Cute either way.
Just found your comic so I’m binge reading 🙂
I have just discovered this web comic and wanted to say that I am enjoying the story about The Great Isle of Prentil and its the sexy heroines. From reading the comment threads, this also looks like a fun group of fans. 🙂 Keep up the great work!
This particular storyline should run for 9 or 10 chapters. At my current (too slow) rate of production, that should last us for (20 pages per chapter * 10 chapters * 14 days per page) 2800 days. Holy crap. 🙂 But beyond that, I have an endless supply of stories and adventures for Arayanna and Maeye, so we can keep this going for as long as folks are interested. 😀
And beyond Arayanna and Maeye, I have storylines for a number of different characters in many different timelines. According to known history in Maeye’s time, the Isle of Prentil (which is really more of a continent, but isle sounds way cooler) was first settled when two explorers, Prentil and Vridhan, shipwrecked on it’s shores nearly a thousand years ago. I have storylines for characters from the very beginning all the way up through 500 years into Maeye’s future.
Unfortunately, there is not enough time in the day for me to render and paint and write all of these stories, so right now we have Maeye and Arayanna.
I am very happy to hear (as I am sure other fans are as well…) this will be a long running story and that other ideas, storylines and concepts are in your mind. I look forward to many more days of adventures with Arayanna and Maeye! 😀
They are quite a lovely pair! How did your studio to come up with the concept for the characters of Arayanna and Maeye? Are they inspired by or modeled after anything or anyone? I am intrigued by them and their story. This is why I ask. 🙂
Well, I could go on forever on this topic, but I’ll try to keep it brief and not bore you too much. 🙂
Basically, Arayanna has been with me most of my adult life. Way way way back when I was in my 20’s, a group of friends got me into playing D&D and other RPGs. After a few years of playing, I started creating and running games and that lead to the birth of many characters, creatures and worlds. Eventually, they developed lives of their own and now I have entire worlds running around on autopilot in my head like so many little MMORPGS. I hope to one day actually get the chance to write down the adventures of some of these imaginary friends of mine, but writing takes a level of concentration that I cannot achieve with kids running around the house and work distracting me with its ever demanding workiness, so I am sticking with the comics for now. Plus, this gives me a chance to express both my needs to storytell and produce art (of a sort).
Arayanna’s name was originally spelled Arianna, and then was changed when I found that spelling in a book I was reading, and was also changed as a small tribute to Martin’s Arya. So for a while, she was Aryanna. One typo on a GURPS character sheet later, and we get Arayanna, and so she shall remain until the end of her days (or mine, whichever comes first). 🙂
She has been a central character in many of my games and stories. In fact, this comic series was originally entitled “Arayanna The Undying”, and was going to be a telling of her adventures through time (and space). But, I find myself intrigued and fascinated with the relationship between Arayanna and Maeye, so I think we will stick with them for a good long while. Of course, Arayanna is immortal, or close to it, and Maeye is not. This will at some point beome a serious problem for our dear friends.
Physically, Arayanna is a cross between one of my best friends and Kate Beckinsale (hubba hubba). She is all strength and wisdom, with a crunchy take-no-shit attitude on the outside protecting a trusting and selfless ice cream center.
As the story progresses, we will learn more and more about Arayanna, her home, her people, and how she came to be on Prentil.
Maeye started out as one of the characters that would come and go in the many lives and loves of Arayanna the Undying, but the more I develop her (or she develops herself) the more I grow to love her. She is, I think, what we all want to be – free spirited, fun loving, brave, beautiful and soon to be kick-ass. She is the perfect compliment to Arayanna and the two of them together are going to make for some awesomely fun stories.
Physically, Maeye is 100% original. I fiddled around with her in DAZ until I got the look I wanted. Green eyes, red hair, freckles – that to me just screams free spirit and sexy fun. 😀
Thank you for the detailed and fun factoid-filled answers to my questions! I am sure I will have more for you as I go along following your comic. Your rendering art and story telling are most enjoyable. Hooray for typos, free spirits and imaginary friends on our heads! 😀
I just have recognised that Arayanna’s tattoo moves here. Up until this page – including panel 5 and the voting teaser – it is on her left side — starting panel 8 (or 7? how do you count them here?) and on the following page it moved to her right side. So is it a magical tattoo that moves every day or according to whim?
You found the big mistake I mentioned in the conversations on page 18! Sad to say, it’s not anything nearly as cool as a tattoo that moves around on her body at whim. Unfortunately, It is simply the result of me screwing up. 😀 I wanted Aray and Maeye’s room to be mirror images of each other, but I used the same model for both rooms and just flipped the images for Aray’s room. Thus her tattoo appears to be on the wrong side of the body.
It will be kinda neat if you keep it for awhile, and Mae notices it and then you correct it (not sure how you would have Aray explain it, but 10009% sure you will come up with a good’un :D)
In Arayanna’s homeland, tattoos are applied by magic and can be moved and changed as often as the person likes (by a person with the right magic). It would be interesting to have one that shifted around from time to time.
I find strange when grown women don’t have any pubes. My brain insists I’m looking at prepubescent girls, which I find creepy. I know it’s fantasy, but I have to wonder if the ladies would actually shave/wax, considering how they live.
Understandable – just a matter of taste I suppose. 😀 Women from Arayanna’s world use magic to remove the hair and replace it with a tattoo. Not all of the women do that, but it’s all the rage in the younger crowd. 🙂 Maeye just has a really really sharp knife….
Yes it did! You are the first person to notice. I rendered up all the scenes and wanted to put them on opposites of their rooms, so I just flipped Aray’s scenes side-to-side, not thinking that it would flip her tattoo to the wrong side. Oops.
I fail completly in seeing something I don t like on this page.
LOL! Thank you. 🙂

That is a tattoo. Glad you found us and glad you are enjoying it!!
Thanks for commenting!
Was wondering who the red-haired girl was at first, shouldn’t have but did
Amazing how different she looks with her hair slicked back!
Still very beautiful, you did a very most excellent job with the rivelets on her skin
Thank you!!
And so we leave our heroines in the arms of Morpheus, or whoever the local God/ess of sleep is.
Ya know, I don’t have a god of sleep. I might need to add a few gods to the panthion.
Sweetus Dreamicus?
LOL!
I have a very good fwiend in Wome . . .

Thank you, Keena. And welcome to our community!
Hi There! I was wondering, is The Great Isle of Prentil considered a short story or something more epic that will go on for awhile?
That’s an interesting question.

Thank you! I look forward to more adventures with them as well. They are quite a pair, aren’t they?
They make a cute couple, and will be great parents, with fun and exciting stories to tell the grandkids

Check this out, friends…Arayanna from 2008. 🙂

Does that mean that this Aray is going to get a bow?
Sounds like a good idea to me. I have a couple in the model inventory. I’ll try them out.
Done and done!
I am very glad you like the new incentive. Thank you very much for the comments!
That ‘tree’ Fiet is perched atop doesn’t look ‘natural’
I really like the comic.

You twig on the big error (had a feeling it had something to do with Aray and her tattoos, but kept getting distracted by Aray ;))
You found the big mistake I mentioned in the conversations on page 18! Sad to say, it’s not anything nearly as cool as a tattoo that moves around on her body at whim. I’ll be sure not to make this mistake again. 🙂

In Arayanna’s homeland, tattoos are applied by magic and can be moved and changed as often as the person likes (by a person with the right magic). It would be interesting to have one that shifted around from time to time.
Knew you would come up with something plausible, now just have to wait and see how long it takes Mae to notice 🙂
Ah, sorry, I did not read the comments, though I skimmed over them for the mentioning of the tattoos…
Yeah, a shifting tattoo would be interesting 😀

No need to apologise, you stumbled onto the Easter Egg (and helped Feori expand on the Prentilverse :D)
First on that I wanted to check the full rez version. Really cool artwork
specially the skin textures (had to mention)
2 very enthusiastic thumbs up
Thank you!

Do you mean for Arayanna to be glowing slightly?
Yes. From the firelight
I think Aaryanna’s tree tattoo flipped to the wrong side of her body in that 8th panel when she’s kneeling in front of the fire.
Yes it did! You are the first person to notice. I rendered up all the scenes and wanted to put them on opposites of their rooms, so I just flipped Aray’s scenes side-to-side, not thinking that it would flip her tattoo to the wrong side. Oops.
