Bk1: Ch3: Pg10
Maeye: Aray, can I ask you something?
Arayanna: Of course.
Maeye: Who is Heimere? Back in that room, you said you had lost Heimere. Was he your brother?
1b.
Arayanna: No. He was not my brother.
Arayanna: He was someone I met when I first came to this world. We... we became very close.
1c.
Arayanna: He saved my life a few times, actually.
2a.
Maeye: What happened to him?
Arayanna: That is a story for another time. Right now we need to focus on our current situation.
Maeye: Yes, of course.
2b.
Arayanna: I do not mean to be harsh, Maeye, but we do need to focus. Ask me about him when we are safe and I promise I will tell you the whole story.
Maeye: OK.
3a.
Dilloch: Alright. This is it. Are you sure you want to go in there?
Maeye: My cousins are in there. I am going in.
Dilloch: OK. But that door is always locked and I do not have a key. Can any of you pi...
4.
Tahr: Welcome, travelers. I have been expecting you.
5a.
Arayanna: Have you, now?
Tahr: Indeed. Now, if you gentlemen would please throw yourselves on your swords, and you two lovely ladies would kindly disarm, disrobe and climb in that cage, I would greatly appreciate it.
5b.
Ryder: You've lost your wits, fool.
Pretah: Maeye?
Tahr: No, then? Alright. I thought I could save us all from a great deal of senseless violence and effort that will inevitably lead to the same comclusion. But, have it your way.
6a.
Maeye: Enough babbling.
Maeye: It's time someone put an end to your twisted sexual appetites, you sick bastard.
6b.
Tahr: My dear girl, it's not my appetites you need to worry abour...
7.
Tahr: It is his.
Arayanna: Oh...
Maeye: ... shit.
And in case anyone was wondering, Heimere is pronounced E-mare.
Was pronouncing it “Heh-mare” (didn’t even notice the ‘i’)
If he was someone Aray met when she first arrived, that was a good hundred years or more ago, wasn’t it?
I would instantly shoot the arrow at that dude.
And you would hit him in the eye with a critical hit max damage role and ruin the whole game. Bastard.
That’s how I roll. Good page bro!
Bad guy holding glowing staff & seemingly unconcerned about armed foes intent on carving out his gizzard? You do NOT let an obvious Magic User have time to get off a spell when you have the means (like a drawn & ready arrow) to stop him!
I had given serious thought to having Gus put and arrow through his throat mid speech and ending the whole scene on an anti-climactic chuckle, but then I decided a big fight would be more fun. Plus, I want to introduce the world of Prentil Summoning magic, so this will give our characters some things to talk about later – those of them that survive, that is….
But yea, shoot the guy in the face immediately is definitely the smart way to go. 🙂
Sure it seems obvious when looking in the perspective of 3rd person, but what about the environment? The smells of captives, minoses in the background and a dude with a glowing staff? A dude so comfortable even with 5 armed intruders? That would make anyone give pause…
And that is when, folks, they realized they had forgotten to bring a cleric along.
And a fire extinguisher.
That was definitely a “clerical” error on their part. 🙂
LOL! Nice one. 😀
Mage, demon summoner, prepared for battle? Expect a protection from arrows spell, at the very least.
Yea. And considering the use of magic in general is very rare and this guy is kind of flaunting it, I guess they really didn’t know what to expect.
Anyone else notice Dill moving around in the background?
He starts off on Aray’s right, and ends up on Ryder’s left close to Maeye’s cousin
He is looking rather suspicious back there, isn’t he. Maybe you guys were right not to trust him…
Not sure why their guide is facing the wall instead of door in panel 5…
Love the vaulted ceilings in the audience chamber, and how that last panel shows why they are needed. Plus there are still the Minox he has flanking his throne to worry about as well.
This will be a tough encounter, for sure!
Dill-boy is putting the torch back (unless it was to open the door without seeming to)
I just realized I put the speech bubble right on top of him. Yea – he is hanging up the torch he was carrying. Damned speech bubbles.
Don’t worry guys.
There are womens in this fight and has a man ever won a battle against women? 😉
You know, that’s an interesting point. This has become a pretty common theme in our entertainment culture – the small and seemingly fragile, yet completely bad-ass female heroine who kicks guy ass left and right…Milla Jovovich in the Resident Evil series, Kate Beckinsdale in the Underworld series, River from Firefly… I think it stems from our desire to root for the underdog and to see the downtrodden triumph over the greater evil. Maybe it helps us to hope that we can someday triumph over the greater evils…The Man, society, taxes.
Myself, I just like looking at sexy women. So if I gotta have somebody running around kicking ass, might as well be a hot chick. Plus, I spend at least 12 hours on each one of these pages tediously manipulating joints and limbs and clothing and props. If it was all dudes all the time I would have quit this a long time ago. 😀
Something about Aray’s “Oh” seems a little… underwhelmed, as though she was going to say “Oh, is that all? I’ve faced worse!”
Actually, Maeye finished her sentence with “…Shit.” Makes sense to me ’cause it happens with me and my family too from time to time.
Yes, but that was Maeye’s reaction
Remember, Maeye is still fairly young and ‘new to the world’, Aray is from another age and have been to more than one other world (not saying that she has been around, but… :P)
looks like a RPG: fight with a boss.
Pretty much. 🙂
Ldies and Gentlemen may I draw your attention to our new contender, straight from Bad Breath Arkansas, the one the only the undisputed interworld champion, Billy Fartwhomp.
Well, our demon now has a name.
It explains why he is so grumpy all the time.
We have seen this glow from other weapons before… Is it the same magic source? On a side note, I am quite amused by Dragonrider’s comment! 😀
We will see different colors of magic as things progress. Blue is power. Green is healing. Blue/green is powered up healing. 🙂
That helps a lot. Thank you for the clarification mister comic creator. 🙂
This foe is beyond any of you. Run.
LOL! Yea…that totally fits.
