Bk1: Ch7: Pg6
Maeye: Feeling better?
Sir Syril: Yes, thanks to you.
1b.
Sir Syril: Is something troubling you, Maeye?
Maeye: It's just...
Sir Syril: Just what? Come now. Out with it.
2a.
Maeye: I completely locked up in that fight with the giant whateverthehelltheyweres.
Sir Syril: What do you mean?
Maeye: I could have summoned Sha'ag or Bear or...or... did something!
2b.
Maeye: But I just stood there like a fool. You almost got killed. We could have all been killed. And I just stood there.
Sir Syril: Maeye, child. It takes more than a few battles to make one a warrior. It takes training. Discipline.
3a.
Maeye: Will you teach me?
Sir Syril: Normally, I would say no to such a request. But...
Maeye: But?
Sir Syril: But child, danger seems to hunt you like a hound on a fox trail. Yes, I will teach you, but you must promise to do exactly as I say and to never use what you learn to harm an innocent.
3b.
Maeye: Thank you, Syril. Thank you.
Sir Syril: You are welcome, child.
4a.
Kraghen: It does not appear that any of those creatures are on their trail.
Arayanna: So they horses should not run too far.
Kraghen: Aye. We should find them soon.
4b.
Arayanna: Kraghen, what were those things?
Kraghen: I do not know. I've never seen the like.
Arayanna: Nor have I, and that worries me.
Kraghen: Aye. Let's find these damned horses and get back to the others.
5a.
Arayanna: There! On that cliff.
5b.
Kraghen: This bridge looks frail. We best go forward on foot, I think.
6a.
Arayanna: It's breaking!
7b.
Arayanna: Kraghen!
Arayanna: Here!
Arayanna: I'm here! Help me!
8a.
Arayanna: Thank the maker you are alright. I can't hold on much longer. Help me up.
8b.
Arayanna: Kraghen?
8c.
Arayanna: Krag?
You know, if the snow bridge looked that obviously fragile, only one of them should have attempted to cross it. In fact, one must wonder how the horse, which probably weighs 5-6 times what either of them do, managed to get across it in the first place without it collapsing.
Yea. The rough script had a few panels showing the horses crossing the bridge and causing it to weaken and begin to break, but they got cut for space, unfortunately. :\
The Cinemasins guy would say “Falling Ex Machina”. Ding!
I agree, and not only that, but there are 2 horses that got across.
Also, in panel 5, the ‘so’ should be ‘say’ I think.
Keep up the good work Feori, just some food for thought.
Yes, you are correct about ‘so’ should being ‘say’
Ah yes…my old friend, the Typo.
~~hello typos my old friend, you’ve come to mess with text again…~~
Guessing Syril didn’t like his food (and don’t like his conditions he made Maeye agree to, something feels ‘off’)
Kraggie had best hope Aray doesn’t survive (butt she does), or he hast best come up with a fine damn explanation
Also, how did Aray manage to get out of her coat while falling? o_O
Syril’s doin ok. He was just protecting himself from Maeye flinging food with her gesticulations. She does that. 🙂
We’ll see soon what happens with Aray and Krag. Will she somehow survive or will she splat!
Her cloak was only attached with a clasp at the neck which conveniently gave way at just the right time because that thing was a damned pain in the ass to work with!!
Didn’t really look like a cloak to me
Hadn’t noticed that his hand was up defensively, thought he was swatting away the bowl 🙁
Oh yea…it does kinda look like he is swatting the bowl. Damn.
Kraghen seemed likely to try something like this to get Arayanna out of the way, I’d guess he needs a woman strong in magic and willing to procreate-we still know next to nothing about his origins-and having Aray die in an “accident” is easily his best bet. Two problems:
1. Fiet can adopt human size and fly, she would be able to catch Aray at the very least, even if she can’t get her back up to the ice bridge. Aray will just climb back up once she’s safe and then go hunting, no? She killed a Minotaur in the nude with nothing but a knife after being held in a magical sleep for 100 years, it’ll take far more than a fall to kill her.
2. Maeve simply won’t believe Aray died like this unless she see’s a body, and she’ll go looking herself if nobody will help her. Given the evident link of some kind between them, she may even know for certain Aray has survived… And Aray will kill Kraghen for this…
I may not know what Kraghen thinks he’s going to accomplish with this, but we’ve seen that Maeve is so powerful she can knock everyone in thirty foot of her flat with nothing but her magic, bringing Aray back from the very edge of death. She’s clearly gotten more powerful since-and that will be enhanced by her staff. Kraghen is going to find out just what Maeve can do when she is very, VERY angry when Aray shows up alive, methinks-and I have to wonder if he’s going to survive the experience…
Those are some very good insights. Right on target for the most part. We will see how this all unfolds very soon…
Yeah, if Krag was smart he would have pretended to be unconscious from the fall or he would have acted like he tried to save Aray but messed up. Now if she survives (which she will of course) his plans to get Maeye are completely ruined
i was expecting something exactly like this… he will have chance not to catch her or just push over a cliff… 😀
but that Maeye face on prelast panel (Krag?) – just perfect!…
i still hope that Kragen has serious reason for doing this, not just being arschloch…
Arschloch? Can I steal that?
Oh man this is so suspenseful! I can’t wait to see what happens next. Oh and great new vote incentive, too.
Thank you!!
LONG LIVE THE KING
