Bk1: Ch9: Pg10
Korrinisa: I have explained to my mother why we are here. She does not think my father will object to you taking the Sloama remains.
Korrinisa: We do not like to have the things of the dead near our home.
Korrinisa: I will speak with my father. Would you like to wait here?
Arayanna: Sure, that is fine.
1b.
Loreshi Mother: Senasha Morlansh Senasha?
2a.
Loreshi Mother: Senasha Morlansh Senasha!
Loreshi Mother: Sasslusa kooloo norash dashi?
Maeye: What is she asking?
2b.
Loreshi Mother: Sasslusa kooloo norash dashi?
Arayanna: I think she wants you to bless her daughter.
Maeye: How do I do that?
Arayanna: Love, I do not understand how you do most of the things you do.
3b.
Loreshi Mother: Kansa. Morlansh. Kansa. Kansa.
Maeye: You're welcome.
4a.
Arayanna: Morlansh. They think you are a goddess.
Maeye: Ok. That is just weird.
Arayanna: It was kind of you, though. I think you made that woman very happy. You didn't have to do anything at all.
Maeye: I just hope I didn't do anything weird to the baby by accident.
4b.
Korrinisa: My father says we are welcome to the take the Sloama. I will take you to it.
Arayanna: Wonderful! But it is a shame we have to leave so soon. I could spend ages learning about your people.
Korrinisa: You are always welcome to return, Skan Ledren Skan.
5a.
Jaskar: Aye, sorry about the shave job. Needed to clean those wounds as best I could.
5b.
Kraghen: Are you a healer?
Jaskar: Nay. 'Twas a time ago in His Majesty's army. But not anymore.
Kraghen: You served in a Vridhan army?
6a.
Jaskar: Aye, aye. Long ago. Aye.
Kraghen: Well, I think your skill saved my life. I am in your debt. How may I repay you?
6b.
Jaskar: No needs for payin, lad. But I will take one thing from ya.
Kraghen: Name it.
7a.
Jaskar: I wouldn't mind hearin the tale of what happened back in that abandoned homestead.
7b.
Kraghen: Not much to tell, really.
Kraghen: That man back there - the dead one - he kidnapped and murdered that girl.
Kraghen: He killed many more people in a village about 10 miles east of here.
Kraghen: Some of them were friends of mine.
Kraghen: So I hunted him down and I killed him.
8a.
Jaskar: Aye. That's about what I figured.
Jaskar: But...
Jaskar: Could just as easily be that you were the one did all the killin.
Kraghen: This is true. I've got no proof. Just my word.
8b.
Jaskar: Hmm...
8c.
Jaskar: Well fella, I'm a pretty good judge of folk - you don't get to be my age bein no fool - and I think I'm gonna go ahead and believe you.
Jaskar: Jaskar's my name.
Kraghen: Kraghen. Good to meet you, Jaskar. I am in your debt.
Jaskar: Good to meet you Kraghen.
Jaskar: Now let's have another drink. Drinkin is always finer when you've got someone drinkin with you.
‘Roggo’?
Roggo is the God of the Land and is Jaskar’s deity of choice.
Oh, thank you
Anytime. 🙂
Not a typo, an extra word in panel eight: “My father says we are welcome to the take the Sloama.”
Well, it’s either the first ‘the’ or ‘take the’
Remove either works, just not have both 😀
well, you grammar… 😀
but well yeah, noticed myself…
Ugh. One of these days I won’t be late and I won’t be rushing and I might actually get a page out without a mistake. At this point, I think it would be best to pretend that English is not my first language. LOL.
I would advice you not to overwork yourself. Maybe checking the text just before rendering might help ?
Besides, your drawing is perfect and when I read your comic it gives me a nice feeling (don’t know what that actually is).
Thank you very much. That is an awesome compliment. 😀
Had to fix an issue with an image on the page (Krag’s reflection was flipped side to side) so I fixed the typo too. 🙂 You may have to F5 to see the change.
I’m guessing “Roggo” is a nickname for a god? As in “I don’t think you would have healed up if you’d been a bad person.”
not sure why, but I think he is referring to his horse…
Roggo is the God of the Land, and Jaskar, being an herbalist and woodsman, mostly prays to Roggo. The Gods are listed as a selection under the Prentil menu at the top.
have to addmit, step up from G2 to G8 is really nice for Khrag…
and that voting incentive of Maeye… mmm…
Agreed on both. Krag is coming out of this with a whole new look.
Liking the pattern on that little one, almost like Kori’s mothers pattern
It does look a lot like her’s. I probably should have made it a different color.
Culturally, each Loreshi has a unique combination of colors and markings, making each one an individual. Colors are inherited from the father’s side of the family, and markings come from the mother’s side, but as they are blended into the new child they become completely unique. Loreshi soldiers eat a certain kind of fish that gives them extra speed and strength, but it also removes their markings turns their skin greenish, which is why all Loreshi soldiers look alike. After a soldier retires and gets off the fish, his markings will return but he will always be that shade of army green.
So much to say about the Loreshi. I could go on for days. I’ll try to do an entry in the Cities list for them soon.
They are similar, yet different, so maybe just related?
Always nice to know an author has put so much work into the background world-story, even if most of it doesn’t get revealed 😀
Wait, only males can be Loreshi soldiers?
Yes – only Loreshi males serve as soldiers and hunters.
Every child having a unique color/marking pattern is true. Look in rl when people of different cultures have a child.
But there is always a chance that 2 or more childeren look almost the same. Twins, triplets and so on have more chance to have that but it happens even when they are not.
Yes!
Am I right that in Maeye’s bath picture she picks up a bottle of soap or shampoo ?
I was confused what that was at the first time I saw it. When I zoomed in quite deep I saw a color difference of green and brown/red and thought, that has to be a bottle.
Well, it’s a bottle of… something, probably bath-oils (although those normally get added before one gets in, while the water is running)
Originally thought the fancy stopper was the end of a bell…
If it is a bell then maybe Maeye will use it to ask Aray to join her. The bath looks big enough for two.
I hope I’m not telling what actually will happen.
It is a small bottle of oil. Maeye will be putting oil on herself in the next scene.
