↓ Transcript1a.
Fiet: Maker have mercy. How long does this go on?
Cliste: Until one of them submits or one of them dies.
Fiet: And then what?
1b.
Cliste: The loser, if alive, is held until the end of the trial and then is most likely executed.
Cliste: The winner faces two more battles.
2a.
Fiet: Two more battles?
Cliste: Yes. Arayanna did not tell you this?
Cliste: Tomorrow, she must fight the winner of another match that will be held immediately after this one.
Cliste: And then, should she prevail, she will fight the Guardian's champion on the following day.
2b.
Fiet: Oh my poor sweet Arayanna. How does she get herself into these situations?
In the third panel the second must is spelled wrong.
When Arayanna sees her life flashing before her eyes she got a kick of anger, energy and love for Maeye. It gave her the strength she needed for the fight.
I wonder if her opponent died or became unconscious.
Damn I suck at spelling. LOL. I even double checked it!! Thanks for the heads up!
And yes, Aray found the strength she needed in her love for Maeye. I am a sucker for cheesy love stories. 😀
You may want to check the first panel, too. “Go on” is misspelled “gon on”.
I thought that too but after a bit of searching I found that to gon on and to go on is quite the same, except the first one is the old way of writing.
So I got a bit confused and didn’t knew if it was right or wrong.
At a guess, she got a concussion and a crushed windpipe. In that case I guess she’ll be dead very soon unless someone gives her some rather advanced first aid.
I have not yet decided Seydah’s fate. She’s a cool character with lots of back story, so it would be a shame to kill her off so soon. We will see.
This is a brutal trial procedure. From 4 fighters only one *might* survive the three rounds and the others are supposed to die either in their fights or the executions afterwards.
Not to mention the people they fight for.
Yep, this is the way to freedom for those whose innocence can not be proven, either due to lack of evidence, or because they are in fact guilty.
Really would you want to make it easy for a guilty mass murderer to win his/her freedom?
Yes, it’s a pretty brutal process with plenty of legal and social flaws. Essentially the Guardians (the local political leaders) are exploiting the presumed guilty to get them to participate in bloody battles to the death for sport and profit. Not all Guardians participate in this practice, but this is kind of how things go in Foyyt. It is a beautiful but brutal city where the strong and the crafty have many opportunities to thrive.
Or, simply are not fighters, or have a fighter stand-in
Well holy sheot….

Handy tool to quickly check the spelling while you’re drawing. 🙂
Hope you can figure outa way to save Seydah, and put an end to this bullshit (preferably with tossing that sadistic fuck-nugget to the beasts)
LOL! Fuck-nugget! 😀
This comic has been up for days, and that throat punch still bothers me. 🙁
The other woman is fighting for her life as well. For all we know, she might be as much a victem as Arayanna and Maeye are.
victim victem damnabit!
Yea. The whole process is most definitely flawed. We’ll see more on that in the next page….coming soooooooon! 🙂
