Iβve always been impressed and amazed by what people can push themselves through when they really need to. But, She wonβt be standing for long. π
I think the adrenaline and the will to survive gave her the strength to strike him down for good. Did she used magic (telekinesis) to get the sword or just swing to it ?
Boss man gon’ be very upset. She was supposed to be very very hurt. He was counting on that, both to minimize risk to his ‘Ringer’ and to ‘know’ better odds than the bookies about betting against her.
Instead she killed his ‘Ringer’ and cost him the money he bet against her. Plus I bet she’s about to somehow grab the ring or gauntlet or whatever that was making him extra-speedy. Her safest move would be bringing it to the attention of some OTHER authorities – being caught cheating in the game would reduce his legitimacy in seeking vengeance against her. Less safe would be trying to keep it and just daring him to give himself away by saying anything about it.
He craves vengeance and he’s going to try something underhanded against her. Assuming he doesn’t get it, a certain masseuse is going to die horribly and very messily through no real fault of her own. But that abuse-followed-by-death could happen anyway, depending on what place she occupies in his universe.
Because your right (Sword arm) side is more exposed to the opponent and needs more protecting. the left (Shield arm) side is either facing away from the enemy or behind a shield so the excess weight of the armor isn’t needed.
I have some personal experience here. My right collar bone shattered in a sword fight. If it breaks again, it is almost certain to be a compound fracture (it was about 0.1 mm away as it was). So best to armor it. Not doing swordplay would be the smart move, but it is also boring. π
It also looks cool, which was a major consideration in gladiatorial combat. It was spectacle, and people have always been people.
She doesn’t strike me as the type to keep grisly trophies. She just wants the gauntlet as proof the champion was cheating. And maybe to see if whatever is magical about it could be useful. The gauntlet is loot. Good thing it wasn’t a jockstrap of speed.
And through the pain she still has the poise to pose with her left leg pointed back on the toes…
Or is she just dragging it behind her and looking good doing it ? π
You’ve got to hand it to her, when she fights she really takes the gloves off.
Ha!
Not sure how she’s able to stand on legs and hips that made such sounds, but I’m thankful for the outcome.

That’s the trouble with being a main character in a story in which your girlfriend has magical healing abilities: you’re bound to get injured. A lot.
(Seriously though, awesome page!)
It’s the “Wolverine effect”. Are you really the best there is just because you can live through and heal from anything?

She just swung to it. Swung? Swinged? Swanged? Lol. Anywayβ¦.
Must have been (very) painful for her, but with a good ending.
“Accio sword” perhaps?
Nice job showing Arayanna using the broadsword as a crutch to move! And her leg work afterwards makes it clear she’s injured.
Thank you!

Some great assessments in there! Irio is definitely going to lose a bunch of money. He will have to see how he reacts. /)
She didn’t kill his champion. She just did a Ramirez special. And she won, hand down.
I totally thought the 8th panel was the sound of him being gelded.
Sadly, just an unfulfilled hope π
They may try to force Arayanna to stay, and fight as the new champion now that they do not have one..
He’s not dead. she just…Wait for it…Disarmed him.
(with an English accent)
” ‘E can’t ‘urt anyone now, ‘e’s ‘armless. “
LOL π
“I don’t fancy being rendered armless, it causes my shoulders to fray at the edges” Danger Mouse
LOL!
You’re supposed to throw down the gauntlet before the duel. Elves have strange ways.
LOL!!
I always wondered why warriors (or certain ones) only wear one shoulder pad.
True, its important to protect your right shoulder if you’re right-handed or vice versa but still, why not both ?
Because your right (Sword arm) side is more exposed to the opponent and needs more protecting. the left (Shield arm) side is either facing away from the enemy or behind a shield so the excess weight of the armor isn’t needed.
That’s what I understand as well. Plus, it looks cool. π

Aray is gonna keep the hand, right? (no, the left one)
