Young lady just because Aray is pale with dark uhm makeup, (I’m not sure if that’s natural for her.) looks a bit different and can use magic it doesn’t mean she’s a vampire! Tsk tsk youngsters.
Also hi! One lurker is coming out from the shadows after have read this comic for quite awhile to make a comment. So hi, I like your comic and the style is lovely…And I really want a hat that looks like Maeye’s.
You don’t want to see my teeth! They are uhm… very uninteresting! And I haven’t cleaned them for awhile so they look gross and smell, yes!
…It probably was a bad idea appear together with the creepy fog. Everyone knows it’s only 2 people who appear at the same time as something spooky at a cursed place. The monster or the mysterious stranger who is after the monster with questionable motives…
*Shifty eyes*
Rule of thumb: Turn away to clean, unless you want even more of an audience. Something about the cleaning adds to it, like stretching but for tits. So, either Bekha is doing it innocently, she’s playing to her audience, or she doesn’t know the rule :3
Orin came out awesome. He was just supposed to be a bit character, but I think he might have to hang around for a while or maybe make an appearance later.
• Is Ehlie just (understandably) lumping together anyone goth-looking?
• Is the vampire taking on Aray’s appearance after having seen her recently?
• Is the vampire taking on Aray’s appearance after seeing her over a century ago, possibly in another world, and this is history returning to haunt? (If so, the vampire may be unaware Aray is here now, and just using her appearance as a disguise.)
• Does the vampire retain control over its victims, using the arrival of strangers to stir the town into rash action that will make them more vulnerable?
• Engiha just says “some of them”. Does that mean a pattern isn’t clear, or that she’s just unhappy that the one thing they’ve been able to induce about the threat is its sexual tastes?
Oh yeah, and typo in panel 8: “aide” -> “aid”. (An aide is a person who provides aid, basically.)
No, “some of them” means just what it looks like: there have been bite marks on the neck and the more personal areas
Question is: are the ‘more personal’ bites all on nubile women of ‘age’, or are they on men and young boys? And is there maybe two (or more) vampires in the mist?
Most likely, Ehlie is lumping all bone-white elves with pointy ears together
More correct, an ‘aide’ is someone who provides assistance
Well, I meant “mean” in the sense of plausible motivation, not semantics — basically the question you then leaped to, yes. Multiple vampires would explain a confusion in tastes, I hadn’t thought of that, what with the fog lifting after each attack. If the erotic bites were in a noticeable pattern, I might expect her to mention that pattern instead… so her merely saying “some of them” suggests either the town hasn’t noticed the pattern, that she doesn’t like knowing the pattern… or that there’s some chaffing factor in the pattern itself, like multiple vampires.
One thing have never understood: unless the vamps’ teeth are hollow, making tiny pin pricks like that won’t allow much blood to flow out, but most vamps have nice long sharp finger nails, so it would make more sense (to me anyway) to use the nails to slice open a nice juicy vein in the wrist or arm or maybe even the jugular
Vampire legends vary from culture to culture, but they are magical creatures, and are often thought susceptible to magic, such as crosses, garlic, etc.. In *Aray’s* culture she has stated that blood is the place where mana is stored. If what a vampire needs is that mana, then simple contact with the blood, rather than consumption of large amounts of blood, could do them quite well. Just like an electrical network will drain charge to the lowest ground, it may be that blood is a pathway as well as a storage for mana. A vampire makes contact with the blood, and being at a lower “mana potential” than the person being attacked, the vampire will drain mana from the person’s body, perhaps to the point of death. They mayalso have ways to “pump” mana from a person’s body into their own, again, using the blood as a transmission pathway.
I’ve always figured they use the fangs to pierce the artery then suck the blood out and swallow it. But there are many different versions of the vampire in our culture, as Tom states.
When the “blood sucked through fangs like a reverse viper” idea was added to vampire myths, vampires were still mostly “chronic” — think of Mina Harker slowly wasting away in Dracula, or the eponymous Carmilla preying on Laura. The bite didn’t need to allow much blood to flow out, because one meal isn’t much blood; the vampire would be back for more, over and over and over.
That’s why slicing open a vein or artery makes more sense, and of course they come back for more, that’s why they hunt and feast every night, but… they can go without for longer if they go into a ‘slumber’ state

Welcome from out of the Mist… wait, let’s see your teeth!

Welcome! Glad you found your way out of the shadows, and thank you for the very kind compliments!!
picture 3: Maeye is charmed :p
Forget the Hypno-toad, All Hail the Hypno-boob!!! 😀
Whiskey covered boobs….works every time.

Boobs in general often work 😀
Speaking of Bekha, is she safe all alone in the inn? Maybe one of us should stay behind and, make sure she is not attacked >.>
Well I hope she is safe! She has much mischief to cause…
Hope you are talking ‘good’ or ‘naughty’ mischief and not ‘bad’ or ‘evil’ mischief

Hm, this gets my wheels turning…

Excellent questions! There are some really good ideas in there that I never considered (not gonna tell you which ones, though. :)).
At this point I don’t think anyone would believe I wrote the page if there wasn’t at least one typo. 😀
Good job inspiring that kind of speculation, and now I’m eagerly awaiting the next page! I’m not used to that, having such a big list…
Hm. Actually, that kinda sounds like I haven’t guessed it yet. I’ll have to keep trying :3
I would, of course, be proud if you use an idea from me in a future arc , but that’s entirely up to you O:)

I can’t believe I didn’t think of this earlier… It’s the kind of error only a programmer would make, I guess.
• The vampire looks similar to Aray, but not the same, because they’re related.
You sure do come up with interesting ideas. 😀
You mean Aray’s sister? Nah, she’s still on Earth (or at least, not Prentil)

We will learn soon that there are much easier ways of recharging one’s mana than sucking out someone’s blood, but this particular case is unusual.

The teeth would tend to get in the way of a good suction
And don’t have a problem with the blood-consumption, it was the how that always seemed ‘off’

Well shit, I was glad to finally be caught up until I realized that now I need to wait for the next page.
Welcome! Glad you are all caught up. Sorry about the wait. Next page should be out this Saturday.
Welcome to Prentil 😀
Every time you reach the end, just means you can start from the beginning again 😀
Lol!
